Volunteer Christmas Party

General Volunteering

Some volunteers come in for a day. General Volunteers become part of the House.

General Volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Ireland is for people who want to give their time on a regular basis and play a steady, reliable role in how the House runs day to day. These volunteers are part of the extended team – trusted, trained and counted on.

If you’re looking for meaningful, ongoing volunteering where your time and skills are genuinely needed, this is it.

Regular volunteers make it possible for families to stay week after week.

What General Volunteers Do

General Volunteers support the everyday running of the House across practical, behind-the-scenes and operational tasks. The work changes based on House needs and your skills, but always has a clear purpose.

These are not filler jobs. They are essential tasks that support families’ daily comfort and staff capacity.

This can include:

Office & Admin Support

Filing, data entry and light communications tasks

Stocktaking and supply organisation

Sorting and managing donations

Housekeeping and practical cleaning tasks

Supporting shared kitchens and common areas

Garden and outdoor upkeep

General house responsibilities that keep things running smoothly

A Volunteering Role You Can Be Relied On For

General Volunteering is not a once-off or drop-in programme. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a regular schedule and become a dependable part of House operations.

That means:

  • A consistent weekly time slot.
  • A planned role based on your strengths.
  • Ongoing involvement rather than one-day projects.
  • Being someone the team can rely on.

Reliability matters here. When you’re scheduled, we plan work around you

Why This Role Matters

The House runs on hundreds of small, necessary tasks each week. When those jobs are done well and done consistently, families feel the difference – even if they never see the work itself.

  • A well-stocked kitchen.
  • An organised store room.
  • Clean shared spaces.
  • Supplies where they should be.

General Volunteers keep the foundations steady so families can focus on their child.

That’s real impact, just not always visible.
